WCSO makes arrest in Homicide Investigation

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office (SO) has arrested Edward McNeil Harris, Jr., 33 years of age, for first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

During the evening hours of July 18, 2020, a call was made to the Wakulla County SO reporting a shooting at a residence on Hill Green Road in Crawfordville, Florida.  Deputy Sheriff’s of the Patrol Division responded and found an adult female deceased at the scene.  The identity of the victim is not being released at this time due to Marsy’s Law.  While responding to the scene of the shooting, some of the patrol deputies encountered a vehicle departing the area.  Deputies attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle, but it fled.  Deputies eventually stopped the vehicle on Spring Creek Highway, south of its intersection with Shadeville Road, and driver Edward McNeil Harris, Jr. was taken into custody.  Detectives and a Crime Scene Technician (CST) from the Criminal Investigations Division, as well as a CST from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, were dispatched to the scene of the shooting and processed the crime scene throughout the night and morning.

During the morning hours of July 19, 2020, Detectives arrested Edward McNeil Harris, Jr. with first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and booked him into the Wakulla County Jail.

The investigation is on-going.  No additional details regarding this investigation are being released at this time.
