How do I obtain a concealed weapon permit?

Determine if you are eligible for a concealed weapon license by checking the:

Applicants must demonstrate competency with a firearm in order to qualify for a license. This means taking a carry concealed class preferably from a reputable agency or company. If you have a hunter education certificate, DD214, or retired law enforcement credentials this will suffice for showing competency.

Submit your application by mail or in person at a Division of Licensing Regional Office. Doing the application in person is better and they will do the passport photo and digital fingerprinting onsite. Call (850) 245-5691 to set up an appointment.

How do I request radar or extra traffic enforcement for a particular road?

All traffic complaints, including request for radar should be called into our dispatch center at 850-745-7100. This is done so that the complaint is assigned a CAD tracking number. This aids in maintaining records of traffic issues over the long term. The communications officer will forward the request to the traffic unit and if the traffic issue is in progress, a deputy will be dispatch.

I had property stolen or damaged and I need a report for my insurance company. How do I obtain a report?

There are two ways to obtain a report: 1) You can come to the Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours, Monday- Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, and request to speak with a deputy, or 2) You can call the Sheriff’s Office at 850-745-7100 and have a deputy come to your residence.

Once the deputy completes the offense report and it has been approved by a supervisor, you can come to the Record’s Division at the Sheriff’s Office during business hours to obtain a copy of your report. You can call the Record’s Division at 850-745-7140 to check the status or obtain a copy of your offense report.

I need to be fingerprinted for a background check, where do I go?

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office offers Livescan (Digitally Scanned Fingerprints) services for the community.
