Correctional Job Opportunity

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position described below. A complete, detailed job description for these positions is available at the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office in the Human Resource Office.

This is an open advertisement for Certified Detention Deputy/Correctional Officer applicants for the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.

Certified Correctional Officers must have completed the Basic Recruit Training Course for Correctional Officers and be eligible for, or possess a current employment certificate of compliance for Correctional Officers issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Certified applicants will be given first consideration.

Annual Salary: $43,200.00



(Applicants who do not possess Florida Correctional Officer Certification may be considered for employment in a Detention Assistant position.)

At a minimum, successful applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Pass a drug test and physical examination
  • Pass a background investigation and fingerprinting, which includes; no felony convictions; no misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement; no misdemeanor conviction of domestic violence; no dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
