WCSO Tropical Storm Michael Oct 8th 9AM update:
Wakulla County Emergency Management has been and will continue to closely monitor the Developments of Tropical Storm Michael. At this time the National Hurricane Center has released a potential track cone that puts Wakulla County in the center of the cone. We need to keep in mind that these cones change with the changing weather conditions and this cone is not “Set in stone” yet. As of 7:00AM the National Weather Service issued this potential track cone along with Hurricane Warning for this area with Storm Surge predictions of 7 to 11 feet.
Forecasts now have the Storm becoming a Hurricane and reaching wind gust of up to 100 mph. As stated above, this can change as weather conditions that affect the strength and track of the storm. NOW is the time to prepare to prepare for this storm. Wakulla County Emergency Management will continue to prepare and pass on information as it becomes available.
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office will have continuous updates throughout this event….We currently have a Emergency Management meeting scheduled for 11:15 and updates will be available after that meeting. Our next update should be available around noon today.
