Wakulla County Sheriff's Office officials are investigating a residential burglary and grand theft reported by Shane E. Vause of Crawfordville on Thursday, Dec. 20, according to Sheriff David Harvey. Sgt. Jud McAlpin, Lt. Sherrell Morrison and Detective Jason Newlin discovered a forced entry at the home. A flat screen television and Christmas presents under the tree were reported missing. A forced entry was reported to a gun cabinet and several firearms were stolen. The total value of the holiday presents, firearms, television and electronic equipment was $6,750.

In other activity reported by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office during the past week:

• On Dec. 20, Jo S. Tubbs of Crawfordville reported a residential burglary and the theft of a dog. A suspect was observed running out of the house and was identified. A witness observed a 17-year-old Tallahassee woman come back to the scene from a wooded area. She was charged with burglary. The victim recovered her dog while Deputy Casey Whitlock was on the scene. The victim did not report the loss of any property, but said items had been moved around inside her home.

• On Dec. 20, Yolanda E. Calloway of Sopchoppy reported a trespass against a suspect who had an active trespass warning against him. Deputy Roger Rankin and Deputy Andre Brown responded to the scene several times and eventually caught the suspect on the property. Steven Lloyd Mock, 25, of Sopchoppy was charged with trespass after warning. Mock's legs were bleeding as he was transported to the Wakulla County Jail. Investigators said the scratches may have been made by running through a thick section of woods.

• On Dec. 19, Deputy Chuck Deal reported the recovery of property at the Wakulla County Courthouse. The property was owned by Audra Marie Smith of Tallahassee and efforts to locate the victim were unsuccessful. The lost items included her driver license, a wallet and other cards. Deputy Pam Veltkamp investigated.

• On Dec. 19, Daryl R. Cook of Sopchoppy reported the theft of a check card. Nine fraudulent charges were found on Cook's check card statement. The charges totaled approximately $170 over an eight day period. Deputy Pam Veltkamp investigated.

• On Dec. 19, City of Sopchoppy employee Michael Porter recovered a check card at Hickory Park. The victim was identified through the account. Detective Eddie Wester investigated.

• On Dec. 19, Mandy P. McCranie of Crawfordville reported a vehicle burglary. Her purse was removed from her vehicle. The victim reported that the value of the loss was $510 and included jewelry. A suspect has been identified. Deputy Pam Veltkamp investigated.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office received 372 calls for service during the past week.
