· On Thursday, Feb. 25, Wal-Mart in Crawfordville and Store Director Richard Russell, will host a blood drive in the parking lot. Visitors can give blood from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the Southeastern Community Blood Center.
· Lt. Fred Nichols and Deputy Ed Tyer will host a Personal Safety and Gun Course on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 9 a.m. at the law enforcement range. The cost is $50 for non-members. Participants may register by calling Major Larry Massa at 926-0821 or at the range.
· The 25th Citizens Academy, a semi-annual event, is underway. The 12-week course meets once a week to discuss all aspects of the sheriff’s office. Call Major Larry Massa at 926-0821 to find out when the next academy will be held. The programs are free.
· The sheriff’s office will participate in the Barkfest fundraiser at Wakulla High School Saturday, March 6 beginning at 9 a.m. The fundraiser will help ownerless animals receive necessary medical care. The Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and McGruff the Crime Dog will attend.
· On Friday, March 12, Victor’s Steakhouse in Crawfordville will host the Tip A Cop fundraiser, which will help the Wakulla High School Special Olympics. Law enforcement officers will help serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donations or “tips” will benefit high school students.
· On Saturday, March 13, the Lion’s Club will sponsor the St. Patrick’s Day celebration and the Mounted Posse and patrol vehicles will participate in the morning parade.
