Sheriff's Log Feb. 19 to Feb. 25  E-mail

On Feb. 21 Danny Lesley of Crawfordville reported a grand theft of copper wire from his shed. Wire from a welding machine was cut and copper piping was also missing. The value of the stolen wire was estimated at $1,000. Sgt. Anthony Curles investigated.
On Feb. 21, Jimmy L. Folsom of Tallahassee reported a grand theft at Jerry’s Marine Repair in Panacea. Propeller parts were missing from the victim’s boat. The value of the stolen parts was estimated at $2,400. Deputy Jerry Morgan investigated.
On Feb. 22, Deputy Dale Evans investigated a truck accident on Highway 267 near U.S. Highway 319. Stephanie Nicole Emanuel, 35, of Panama City apparently fell asleep at the wheel and struck a tree next to a ditch. A 54-year-old male passenger was not injured.
The victim originally refused EMS treatment, but Deputy Evans called EMS back to the scene when he became concerned about the victim’s condition. She was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
On Feb. 21, an attempted child abduction was reported. A stranger at the Wakulla County Recreation Park reportedly approached a 12-year-old female juvenile.
The victim was waiting for her parent to pick her up from the facility when a male who opened the door of his vehicle and turned up the music approached her.
The victim ran from the man and approached the park caretaker who contacted law enforcement officials.
The suspect was described as a black male, six foot, two inches to six foot six inches tall wearing a white T-shirt. He was estimated to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
Evidence was collected at the scene and the victim was returned to her mother. Deputy Vicki Mitchell investigated.
On Feb. 19, Ashlee D. Stoddard of Crawfordville reported a felony criminal mischief as someone threw an object that struck and broke the victim’s rear driver’s side window. The victim was driving near Glenda’s Store when the window was broken. Sgt. Ronald Mitchell investigated.
On Feb. 18, Michael Meadows of Crawfordville reported a cruelty to animals case as horses were shot with BB guns. Juveniles were observed shooting the guns nearby. Three horses suffered injuries and one required $200 worth of medical attention. Deputy Lorne Whaley investigated.
On Feb. 18, Abby Anderson of Crawfordville reported a structure fire. A shed behind her home was destroyed in the blaze and a water well and household appliances were also destroyed. Damage was estimated at $3,000. Deputy Nick Boutwell investigated and Wakulla County firefighters put out the blaze.
On Feb. 24, Joseph Redding of Wal-Mart reported a retail theft. J’Shawn Lamar Tucker, 24, of Tallahassee allegedly let a customer exchange an item, then rang up a refund on a gift card which he allegedly kept for himself. The investigation determined that the suspect allegedly did this five times between Dec. 28 and Feb. 21. The total loss to Wal-Mart was $365. Deputy Joshua Langston investigated.
On Feb. 24, Keith R. Harrison of Crawfordville reported a residential burglary. The victim reported the theft of a weight bench, valued at $300. During the investigation Deputy Nick Boutwell returned to talk to the victim and discovered Clarence Reed, Jr., 39, of Crawfordville at Harrison’s residence. The weight bench had been discovered at Reed’s home. Reed began walking away from the deputy during the investigation and was charged with resisting an officer without violence, burglary and larceny.
On Feb. 24, Deputy Ward Kromer investigated a complaint of a man dancing on tables and disrobing at McDonald’s restaurant. The deputy reported that the WCSO dispatchers received complaints from both McDonald’s and Skybox Lounge that Michael Oren, 55, was standing on tables and removing clothing. Restaurant staff told the deputy that Oren did not remove all of his clothing and was not vulgar in his speech.
Deputy Kromer transported Oren to the county line per his request. Oren is known as “The Peace Walker” and has received national news coverage for his peace walks across the United States.

The sheriff's office responded to 18 business and residential alarms and made 13 faulty equipment stops. There were 27 medical assistance calls, 67 legal advice, 69 assistance to motorists, 21 speeding stops, 19 suspicious activities, 60 traffic offenses, 23 abandoned vehicles, 28 warrant services and 293 orders for extra patrol. The total number of calls reached 1,016 during the time period.
