On July 8, Susan R. Gregory of Crawfordville reported a credit card fraud. The victim had 61 unauthorized charges on her credit card while in Orlando. The total fraud was $4,070. The case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Deputy Billy Metcalf investigated. On July 11, Ann Cooper of Panacea reported recovering two wallets and turned them in to the WCSO. The two wallets contained cash. In addition, a bank card and a Florida and Georgia driver license were recovered. Deputy Lisa Hummel investigated. On July 11, Jessie Lee Davis, 41, of Crawfordville was charged with reckless driving, fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, driving with no tag and neglect of a child without great harm. Deputy Ryan Muse observed Davis’ vehicle with no tag displayed on a Crawfordville road and made a traffic stop after a pursuit. The suspect was secured at a Webster Road location without incident. A two-year-old child was at the scene and had been left unattended. Lt. Mike Kemp and Deputies Will Hudson and Nick Gray investigated. On July 12, Robert Justin Dunn, 18, of Crawfordville was issued a notice to appear in court. The suspect allegedly used a baseball to break light fixtures and lights at the recreation park in Medart. Damage was estimated at between $300 and $1,000. Deputy David Renna investigated. On July 10, Jeffery W. Hicks of Crawfordville reported the theft of a vehicle from his property. Tools were also taken that were inside the vehicle. The value of the stolen property is $4,700. The vehicle was entered into the NCIC/FCIC computer. Deputy Josh Langston investigated. On July 10, Keri J. Copeland of Crawfordville reported a residential burglary. Two firearms, valued at $600, were missing. Sgt. Andy Curles investigated. On July 11, a 15-year-old female juvenile from Crawfordville reported an attempted residential burglary. The victim was listening to music when she heard someone attempt to enter her home. When the suspect realized the victim was calling 911 he left the scene. Deputy Josh Langston investigated. On July 9, Terry Earnest of McAlpin reported the theft of machinery batteries from a vacant lot on Port Leon Drive in St. Marks. The batteries are valued at $800, but the victim lost the use of the rented machine with an additional value of $1,800. Evidence was collected at the scene. Deputy Nick Gray investigated. On July 9, James Shelton of Crawfordville reported the theft of a motorcycle. The 2008 Harley Davidson is valued at $28,000. The motorcycle was entered into the FCIC computer. Deputy Lisa Hummel investigated. On July 9, Debra M. Story of Crawfordville reported a grand theft. An air conditioning unit was stolen from the victim’s home. The unit is valued at $2,000. Deputy Josh Langston investigated. On July 12, Animal Control Officer Kenneth Carnivale investigated a report of animal cruelty. Two dogs were picked up from a home on Hill-Green Road in Crawfordville. The animals were small with matted hair that took years to accumulate. It has not been determined who owns the dogs. The case was turned over to Criminal Investigations. Deputy Nick Boutwell investigated. On July 12, Alyssa M. Taylor of Crawfordville reported a burglary at a home she was watching for a friend who is out of town. Plastic containers with an undetermined amount of change were taken. Deputy Nick Boutwell investigated. On July 12, Ramona L. Barwick of Crawfordville reported the possible theft of her wallet. The wallet and contents are valued at $32. Deputy Evelyn Brown investigated. On July 12, Christopher James Hill of Crawfordville reported a grand theft of three bicycles from his home. The bikes are valued at $1,200. Lt. Brad Taylor investigated. On July 13, Benjamin Godbolt, 41, of Sopchoppy was charged with DUI and felony driving while license suspended or revoked. Deputy Lorne Whaley and Lt. Brad Taylor were investigating a stolen vehicle complaint that originated in Franklin County when they observed Godbolt on the road. The two law enforcement officials followed Godbolt to Sopchoppy where they were able to secure him. The vehicle that had been reported stolen was recovered in a wooded area near where Godbolt was secured. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was notified and requested a hold be placed on Godbolt. On July 13, Tryggvi Ingolfsson of Crawfordville reported a burglary to his mobile home. A window was broken, skirting was damaged and an air conditioning unit was stolen. Damage to the mobile home was estimated at $300. Deputy Nathan Taylor investigated. On July 13, Linda Magann of Crawfordville reported the theft of her handbag while at Goodwill in Crawfordville. The victim left the bag in the store and when she returned to pick it up it was missing. Sgt. Ronald Mitchell investigated. On July 13, Jean Graham of Crawfordville reported the theft of a Boston Terrier from her home. The dog was tied up outside when it was taken and is valued at $1,000. Lt. Brad Taylor investigated. On July 13, Arena J. Willis of Crawfordville reported the theft of medications from her home. The prescription medication is valued at $450 and a suspect has been identified. Deputy Scott Rojas investigated. On July 13, Rita D. Zarate of Crawfordville reported the theft of a wallet from her purse. It was determined the property was stolen in Mexico Beach and contact should be made with law enforcement officials in Bay County. The property was valued at $100. Lt. Mike Kemp investigated. On July 14, Ben Withers of Tallahassee reported a fraud. A local bank warned Withers that someone was attempting to wire money from his account to a bank in Mexico. Deputy Nick Gray investigated. On July 14, Samantha Kilbourne of Crawfordville reported a fraud involving a business account. The total amount charged to the account in Maryland was $6,435. The transactions occurred in Maryland CVS, Wal-Mart and Rite Aide stores in addition to other locations. Deputy Lisa Hummel investigated. On July 14, Valerie Hollis and Cassie Nesmith, both of Tallahassee, reported the theft purses at the Newport Park boat ramp. The victims left the vehicle unlocked while fishing and the purses were stolen from the trunk of the vehicle. The Hollis purse and contents were valued at $500. The Nesmith purse and contents were valued at $100. Deputy Taff Stokley investigated. On July 14, John Devillez of Crawfordville reported a structure fire on Shoemaker Court. Deputy Ward Kromer observed smoke coming from the roof of the residence following a severe thunderstorm. A neighbor reported spotting the smoke and contacted law enforcement. The fire originated in the attic area and smoke spread throughout the house. Two dogs in the yard were taken to a neighbor for safe keeping. No injuries were reported as the Wakulla County Fire Department put out the blaze. Damage to the home, a result of a lightning strike, was estimated at $272,000. On July 14, Nicole A. Green of Crawfordville reported a structure fire as her home on Pimlico Drive was struck by lightning. The victim’s 16-year-old son was struck by lightning. Wakulla EMS treated the teenager for first and second degree burns on his left arm and released him to his mother without hospitalization. The cause of the fire was a lightning strike. The entire structure suffered fire and/or smoke damage. Wakulla County Firefighters were called to put out the blaze. Deputy Vicki Mitchell investigated. On July 14, Dustin J. Lynch of Crawfordville reported a grand theft of a dog. Two dogs were inside a chain link kennel. A black Lab puppy, valued at $800 to $1,000, was reported missing. Sgt. Ronald Mitchell investigated. The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office received 1,071 calls for servicing during the past week including: 29 residential and business alarms; 10 assistance calls for other agencies; 115 citizen contacts; 62 investigative calls; 34 medical emergencies; 257 security checks; 46 special details; 33 suspicious vehicles or people; 156 traffic stops, enforcement or crashes; 12 abandoned vehicles; 12 disabled vehicles; and 18 reckless drivers. |
