On July 22, William S. Tully of the Wakulla County School Board reported a criminal mischief at Riversprings Middle School. A work truck was spray painted with red paint on the driver’s side. Obscenities were also painted on the vehicle. A screen door of a storage room was also damaged. Deputy Nathan Taylor, Deputy Mitch Revels, Det. Rob Giddens and CSI Allison Blackstock investigated. A 15-year-old Sopchoppy juvenile suffered a minor injury after being shot with a BB gun by friends Thursday, June 22 at 2:08 p.m. The juvenile was riding a lawnmower home from a lawn job when two other juveniles drove by him in a vehicle and shot him with an airsoft BB gun. The victim was struck in the ribs. The victim told Deputy Ian Richards that the juveniles, friends of his from school, drove off after the shooting. The juveniles were identified and they told Deputy Richards that the shooting was a prank. Since the parents of the victim knew the juveniles and believe they were not attempting to injure their son they decided not to press charges. The juveniles, ages 14 and 16, were given verbal warnings regarding the firing of a BB gun from a vehicle and handling a BB gun unsupervised under age 16. On July 22, Kenneth E. Harvey of Sopchoppy and the Wakulla County School Board reported a burglary at Shadeville Elementary School. Harvey discovered several doors that were not secured. Items inside the school were moved around, but no forced entry was discovered. Deputy Nathan Taylor, CSI Allison Blackstock and Det. Rob Giddens investigated. On July 22, Clarence E. McNeely of Sopchoppy reported a fraud as suspicious charges were observed on his credit card. Three charges were created at gas stations in Indiana and Illinois for a total of $445. Deputy Ian Richards investigated. On July 26, Andrew T. Carter of Crawfordville reported a vehicle burglary at Blue Dolphin Boat Ramp at Shell Point. The victim reported observing a suspect near his trailer grab something and throw it in his vehicle. The suspect left the scene rapidly. Sgt. Andy Curles spotted the vehicle at a convenience store in the St. Marks area where a tennis court winch, valued at $250, was observed in the back of the truck. The victim identified the suspect vehicle and three suspects, Jeremi Scott Futrell, 21, of Tallahassee, Matthew Preston Goodheart, 26, of Woodville and Brandon Thomas Krulic, 26, of Tallahassee, were charged with burglary. During the investigation, Futrell was charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia and Krulic was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana following the weapons pat-down process. Deputy Ian Dohme and Deputy Jerry Morgan investigated. On July 26, Jeffery Tilley of Crawfordville reported a criminal mischief as someone destroyed his mailbox. The damage was believed to have been caused by a vehicle. Deputy Nick Boutwell investigated. On July 24, Deputy Jerry Morgan and Deputy Will Hudson charged Brandy Webster, 23, of Tallahassee with battery in connection with an altercation at a St. Marks restaurant. Witnesses said Webster was allegedly showing her breasts inside the restaurant and got into an altercation with a waitress. The suspect also allegedly struck a male victim outside the restaurant. On July 24, Deputy Ryan Muse investigated a criminal mischief as Pamela D. Parker and Dana F. Thrash reported that someone destroyed their mailboxes in Crawfordville. Deputy Muse observed eight damaged mailboxes on Trice Lane and Wakulla Arran Road. He left his business card and phone number for the other victims who had not called in their damage or been interviewed. On July 23, Catherine Clussman of Sopchoppy reported the theft of mail from her mailbox. Deputy Ian Dohme investigated. On July 26, Jennifer Swain and Edward Gumphrey, both of Crawfordville, reported vehicle burglaries. Electronics, CDs and currency, valued at $ $420, were reported missing from Gumphrey’s vehicle. Deputy Nick Boutwell investigated. On July 25, Joseph L. Redding of Crawfordville and Wal-Mart reported a retail theft. Carol Bamberg Laxton, 63, of Crawfordville was charged with grand theft of a computer, valued at $327. The laptop computer was returned to the store. Lt. C.L. Morrison and Lt. Mike Kemp investigated. On July 24, Deputy Ryan Muse observed a 13-year-old juvenile cross U.S. Highway 319 on a motorcycle at a high rate of speed. The juvenile was traveling at 72 miles per hour in a 25 mph and 35 mph zone on Greenlin Villa Road. The juvenile’s mother was contacted and the juvenile was given a civil citation for reckless driving. On July 25, Johnnie Roberts of Crawfordville reported a criminal mischief as yard lamps at his front gate were broken. Damage was estimated at $1,000. It appeared a wooden fence post was used to damage the lights. Deputy Vicki Mitchell investigated. On July 23, Robert Carney of Crawfordville reported a disturbance as a neighbor’s dog damaged his vehicle by jumping up on it. Damage was estimated at $450. The case was turned over to Animal Control. Captain Steve Ganey investigated. On July 23, Nicki Beam of Crawfordville reported a fraud as someone was attempting to take money from her business account. None of the transactions cleared the account, but the four transactions totaled $2,754. Deputy Nick Gray investigated. On July 23, Brenda O’Rourke of Crawfordville reported a fraud. Fraudulent charges of $853 were discovered on the victim’s account in Indiana and Illinois. Deputy Nick Gray investigated. On July 26, Gary Wines of Crawfordville reported the theft of a power pole from a former residence. Hand tools were also missing. The total value of the theft is $500. Lt. Danny Harrell investigated. On July 26 Kelli P. Lindsey of Crawfordville reported a criminal mischief. A suspect, who was identified, allegedly repositioned the victim’s satellite dish after a dispute. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Lt. Brad Taylor investigated. On July 26, Deputy Lorne Whaley made a traffic stop of Robert Earl Moore, 54, of St. Marks north of St. Marks. Moore did not have a driver license and had an improper tag attached to the vehicle he was driving. The tag that belonged to the vehicle expired in 2006. Moore’s license was suspended in 2007. Moore was taken to the Wakulla County Jail after being arrested for driving while license suspended or revoked with knowledge and attached tag not assigned. In the booking process, jail staff determined that Moore gave Deputy Whaley a false name. He was also charged with resisting an officer by obstruction as a disguised person. On July 27, Pamela D. Lewis of Apalachicola reported a vehicle fire as she noticed smoke inside the vehicle on U.S. Highway 98. The vehicle is owned by the City of Apalachicola Police Department and was being serviced by a communications company in Tallahassee. The fire started due to a wire short melt. Deputy Lisa Hummel investigated. On July 27, Paul A. Hodges of Crawfordville reported finding a firearm as he cleaned his fence line. The handgun had been damaged by the weather, but was turned over to Deputy Nathan Taylor. On July 27, a concerned citizen reported a fire on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Road on a lot owned by Weldon W. Hawkins of Crawfordville. Deputy Ben Steinle arrived on scene and Wakulla County Firefighters were extinguishing the flames. The lot contained construction materials and a demolished mobile home. Subjects were allowed to remove scrap materials from the site and may have started the fire using a cutting torch. The fire was believed to be an accident. On July 27, Vito Knowles of Crawfordville reported a burglary of a satellite receiver. The receiver was taken from a camper and is valued at $120. Lt. Brad Taylor investigated. On July 28, Lt. Brad Taylor was checking on the welfare of a 17-year-old juvenile who was walking in a business parking lot in Crawfordville. The juvenile was in possession of alcohol which he attempted to hide from Lt. Taylor. The juvenile was charged with possession of alcohol by a person under age 21 after a parent declined to allow Lt. Taylor to issue a Juvenile Civil Citation instead. On July 28, Lisa T. Pope of Panacea reported the theft of a washing machine that was located at a former home. The washing machine was taken and water pipes leading into the machine were leaking. The machine is valued at $150 and suspects have been identified. Deputy Nick Gray investigated. On July 28, Clifton Brock of Panacea reported a business burglary at Gulf Coast Metal System. A trailer and shop tools were reported stolen. The value of the stolen property was estimated at $2,500. Det. Rob Giddens investigated. The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office received 977 calls for service during the past week including: 18 residential and business alarms; 104 citizen contacts; 15 disturbances; 56 investigative calls; 37 medical emergencies; 161 security checks; 86 business checks; 43 special details; 13 subpoena services; 12 suspicious people; 24 suspicious vehicles; 13 thefts; 94 traffic stops; 20 reckless vehicles; and 15 wanted people. |
