U.S. Census Bureau 2010 Activities

The United States Census Bureau is beginning its effort to determine the U. S. population this month. This will result in U. S. Census Bureau staff working in neighborhoods, going door-to-door, delivering Census Questionnaires, to addresses and collecting information from residents. I wanted to provide you with some information you should be aware of during this process, which will continue through late August 2010.

  • The U. S. Census Bureau will use Temporary and Permanent employees to conduct the Census.
  • Any U. S. Census Bureau employee should have and present official identification cards issued by the Census Bureau.
  • Temporary Census employee credentials will not have a photograph on them. Permanent employee credentials will have a photograph of the employee.
  • All U. S. Census employee credentials will bear the name of the employee and an expiration date.
  • Your Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office has established a process to confirm the identity of any Census employee.
  • If you have a question about a Temporary Census or Permanent Census employee you can call the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office at 850-926-0800.
As always my goal and that of all Sheriff’s Office employees is to keep you safe. If you see any suspicious persons or activity in your community please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 850-926-0800.David F. Harvey, Sheriff
