Sheriff Jared Miller is attending the Florida Accreditation Conference in St. Augustine this week. Today the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) certified the accreditation of the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division, a process that covers 262 Standards which must be met. We were 100% compliance.
We are excited to announce that we were awarded the Excelsior Award which is awarded on the 6th consecutive accreditation without any issues. This very rewarding for Sheriff Jared Miller since he was the very first accreditation manager at the WCSO over 16 years ago.
Sheriff Miller also serves on this commission and was appointed by the Florida Sheriffs Association. The commissioners on the board were all impressed with the ICE program that we run and bring in over 3/4 of the jail budget. There are only 4 counties in the state of Florida that have the contract with ICE like Wakulla County.
Law Enforcement and Communications accreditation awards will follow this week.
