I need a summons served. How do I go about it?
If you are within the State of Florida, please provide an original and one copy of the summons, and a copy of the complaint or petition.Enclose a check for $20.00 made payable to:
Wakulla county Sheriff’s Office
ATTN: Civil Division

If you are outside the State of Florida the same documents are required, except the summons may be a copy.
Can I file a report at any time of day or do I need an appointment?
The Sheriff’s Office will respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week to requests for assistance. Some reports may be taken over the phone. The person taking your request will be able to determine how your report can best be handled.I’ve been given a check which was returned for insufficient funds.
How do I file a complaint?
NSF/Worthless Check cases are handled by the Office of the State Attorney. In Wakulla County, call 926-0914. The Office of the State Attorney is located in the Wakulla County Courthouse.
Why do they ask so many questions when I call for a deputy?
Receiving Communications Offices are trained to get as much information as possible to best determine the nature of the problem and it’s seriousness. If the call is an emergency, the dispatcher will have deputies on their way to you while asking for additional information.I have left my spouse and am living elsewhere, but I need to get my clothing and

The Sheriff’s Office will send a Deputy to keep the peace and prevent violence while you retrieve your belongings. Call the Sheriff’s Office from a phone near the location of your belongings and a Deputy will go to the house with you. How do I get a copy of a report?
The records department is opened from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. There is no charge to victims of crimes. Requests can be handled by mail if you send a self-addressed stamped envelope. For more information, contact the Records Department at 926-0810.Can deputies open my car if I lock my keys inside?
Because of the potential for damage to vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office does not open locked vehicles. A locksmith is your best alternative. However, if a child has locked himself in a vehicle, this is considered a true emergency due to the severe heat potential in Florida. The Sheriff’s Office will respond and open the vehicle by using equipment or force if necessary to free the child.How can I check someone's background?
Local criminal history checks can be made by our records section. This information is public record and may be requested by calling (850)926-0810. Statewide and national checks can be obtained through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.How do I replace a lost or stolen tag?
Call the Sheriff's Office and file your complaint regarding the lost or stolen tag. They will assign you a report number. Take this report number to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to request a replacement tag.How do I request an injunction for protection against domestic violence?
You may request an injunction for protection from the Victim Advocate at the Sheriff's Office (850) 926-0800 or from the Clerk of the Court (850) 926-0905.The completed injunction request must then be filed with the Wakulla County Clerk of the Court and a hearing will be scheduled. The circuit judge will issue the final order to either grant or deny the injunction.

Is there help available to pay my medical expenses?
You may request a victim compensation claim form from the Victim Advocate at the Sheriff's Office (850-926-0800) or download one from the Office of the Attorney General (850) 414-3300. Am I required to register as a convicted felon or sex offender?
Yes, you are required to register within 48 hours of establishing residency in the county. You may register at the Sheriff's Office or with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.Sex offenders must also register with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Please refer to Florida Statute (FS) 775.13 which outlines the registration requirements for a person convicted of a felony, or Florida Statute (FS) 775.21 which outlines the registration requirements for sex offenders.
What are the visitation hours at the jail?
- Female Inmates: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM Daily
- Male Inmates: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Daily
What are the hours at the animal shelter?
Hours of operation are as follows:- Tuesday - Thursday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Friday - Saturday 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Closed on Sunday, Monday and Holidays
