Uniformed Road Patrol

24 Hour A Day Service

The Uniform Patrol works 12-hour shifts and are assigned patrol zones to provide the maximum patrol coverage to over 600 square miles of the county. Uniform Patrol is the traditional backbone of any law agency. Patrol deputies are the first responders to all kinds of calls from the public and the patrol deputies initiate their own calls when needed. Patrol deputies apprehend suspects and provide a deterrent to criminal activity. There are several sections of the Uniform Patrol Bureau.

   

Special Operations


Special Operations in the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office continues to expand to meet increased demands for law enforcement response to critical incidents and threat management. This section provides highly trained law enforcement officers to protect and serve the citizens of Wakulla County. Curently the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office has the following Special Operations Teams: Jail Extraction; K-9; Hostage/Crisis Intervention Unit; Dive Team; S.W.A.T.; Marine Enforcement; Traffic Unit, including motorcyle patrols and Bike Patrol and Community Policing.

Juvenile Relations


image00012.jpgJuvenile Relations within the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office work closely with the Wakulla County School Board to provide School Resource Officers. These committed deputies go to work every day in our schools to ensure the safety of the students and staff. They teach programs starting at the elementary schools, as well as spend time befriending students providing positive role models.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

K9


K-9 Teams are specially trained police officers and their service dogs that apprehend fleeing or barricaded suspects and locate people who are lost or articles that are lost, as well as detect illegal drugs.

Training


Training is recognized by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office as a critical element in keeping all Sheriff's Office employees current in job related information in their respective areas. The Training Unit also coordinates the Field Training Officer program. They maintain training records on all employees, conduct remedial training as needed.

Crime Scene


Crime Scene Unit is called to the scene of crimes to examine and collect evidence, record the scene and insure that evidence is processed property. The integrity of this unit is essential to the successful prosecution of criminal cases. Strict Florida Statutes govern the maintenance and disposal of property and is followed at all times by the Evidence Section receiving evidence and property.
