Weekly Activity Report from Sheriff Jared Miller and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office for the week of May 25th, 2017 to June 1st, 2017

May 25th
Donna Morgan of Tallahassee reported a residential burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. Mrs. Morgan was reporting the crime for the victim William McKiernan of Crawfordville. Mrs. Morgan stated that the victims 1996 white Chevy van was stolen. The van had been located at the victim’s residence and appeared to have been taken sometime that morning. Mrs. Morgan also stated that several consumable items and a bag of tools valued at $150.00 had been taken from inside the residence. Evidence was collected on scene and a possible suspect identified. The case was documented and referred to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Deputy Gibby Gibson investigated.
May 26th
Robert Blankenship of Crawfordville reported a theft of property. Mr. Blankenship stated that a maroon 2002 Chevy extended cab truck and a pull behind camper was stolen from the property where it was located on Centerline Road. Mr. Blankenship was able to provide possible suspect information to the responding Deputy. All information was collected from Mr. Blankenship and documented. Deputy Steven Parfitt investigated.
Lakendrick Chandler, an employee with Wal-Mart Asset Protection, reported a felony retail theft. The theft occurred May 24th at 12:06 AM. It was discovered that a subject entered the store at filled his shopping cart with numerous miscellaneous items. The subject then exited the store without paying for the items. The total value of the retail stolen was $1216.35. Photographs and video footage was provided and collected as evidence. A possible suspect has been identified. Deputy Brandon Sheffield investigated.
Lakendrick Chandler, an employee with Wal-Mart Asset Protection, reported a retail theft. The theft occurred May 24th at approximately 10:37 AM. The investigation showed that a white male and white female entered the store, take items off of the shelves and return them for gift cards without paying for the items. The gift card was issued in the amount of $93.22. The same two suspects were possibly involved in a separate incident on May 22nd where items were returned for $62.03. All evidence was gathered and the case referred to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation’s Division. Deputy Brandon Sheffield investigated.
May 27th
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office responded to a physical dispute at an address on Benton Road. While on scene one of the subjects fled on foot from the Deputies. As this was occurring another subject opened a back door to the residence and a K-9 from inside the residence was able to exit the residence. The K-9 approached Deputy Brandon Sheffield and bit him on his leg. Deputy Sheffield received treatment for the bite and the K-9 was taken by Animal Control until the owner returns home and can verify that the K-9 is up to date on its shots. Sergeant Vicki Mitchell investigated.
May 28th
Jennifer Carraway of Crawfordville reported fraudulent charges made to her debit card. The victim discovered that someone had made several unauthorized charges to her debit card in the South Florida area. The total amount of unauthorized and fraudulent charges was $662.64. All case information was gathered from the victim and the case referred to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Deputy Curtis Hunter investigated.
May 29th
Laurie Hutchinson of Crawfordville was arrested for trespassing. The suspect was asked to leave a residence belonging to James Simmons. After she would not leave Mr. Simmons contact the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was observed exiting the residence upon the arrival of Deputy Sheriff’s. The suspect was placed under arrest for trespassing and transported to the Wakulla County Jail. Deputy Ethan Ard investigated.
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by staff at the Wildwood Inn in reference to finding suspected narcotics in one of the rooms. The found property was turned over to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office. The property turned over contained a large zip-loc bag with 14 smaller baggies each containing a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotics. All information was gathered and the case documented. Deputy William Hunt investigated.
Jeremy Anderson of Crawfordville reported a theft. The victim stated that his small white Yeti ice chest had been stolen. The Yeti ice chest is valued at $225.00 and was last seen on the back of his golf cart parked in front of the garage door. The case information was collected and documented. Deputy Ethan Ard investigated.
May 30th
FWC Officer Charles Mallow contacted the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office to report a found safe in the wood line off of CJ Spears Road. The safe is described as a grey First Alert model number R15209 with a serial number of BW-380420. The safe was collected as evidence and all information was documented and referred to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Deputy Michael Alexander investigated.
Mark Linn of Crawfordville was arrested for disorderly intoxication. The suspect was at a residence on CJ Loop and had been visited once already by Wakulla County Deputy Sheriff’s in reference to a verbal altercation he was involved in. The Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls in reference to the suspect after concluding the earlier visit. Once back on scene the suspect was arrested for disorderly intoxication and transported to the Wakulla County Jail. Deputy Kyle Hanks investigated.
June 1st
Tyson Scott was arrested for trespass after warning. The investigation found that the suspect had been at a residence on Squaw Road, an address where he had previously been served a trespass warning. While at the residence the suspect also caused damage to the back door by kicking it repeatedly. While being placed under arrest the suspect snatched away from the Deputies and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended and arrested for trespassing, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. Deputy Matthew Hedges investigated.
This week Sheriff Jared Miller and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office responded to 980 Total Calls for Service, 183 Calls to 911, and conducted 304 Residential and Business Security Checks.
