Sheriff Miller and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office were proud to graduate and present certificates to the attendees of Sheriff Miller’s first Civilian’s Academy this past Tuesday April 11th, 2017.
Citizen Academy attendees were provided a close-up look at all aspects of daily operations at the Sheriff’s Office including Corrections, Road Patrol, Investigations, Training, Emergency Management, and Communications. Attendees were instructed by Command Staff level Sheriff’s Office employees and were given opportunities to ask questions and interact with the instructors and the Sheriff. The class was held over a four week period meeting every Tuesday evening.
“The Sheriff’s Office is committed to serving the community by being a part of it” says Sheriff Miller. “Academy Graduates will be able to serve a vital role in supporting law enforcement through a deeper understanding of the role it plays in the community.”
Sheriff Miller adds that he will continue to offer Citizens Academies and plans on holding the next one in the fall.
