Drug items dropped off by citizens at Drug Take Back event

Sheriff Miller is happy to report that on October 24, 2020, Wakulla County citizens turned 50 pounds of unused or expired medications over to the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.  National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is conducted twice annually and is sponsored nationally by the Drug Enforcement Administration.  This weekend members of the Criminal Investigations Division staffed a collection site from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for persons to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications at the Wakulla County SO Annex, located at 16 Oak Street, Crawfordville, Florida 32327.
This is the sixth successful event held by Sheriff Miller and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.  In October 2017, April 2018, October 2018, April 2019, and October 2019, the Wakulla County SO participated in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and Wakulla citizens turned over 46.2 pounds, 14.2 pounds, 50 pounds, 60 pounds, and 90 pounds respectively of expired or excess prescription drugs for destruction.
Sheriff Miller would like to thank Wakulla County Citizens for helping to combat drug abuse in Wakulla County by disposing of unused or expired prescription medications.
