Strong series of storms knocks down trees, power lines

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office and Wakulla County Public Safety experienced a busy Saturday, Jan. 11 as a strong series of storms passed through Wakulla County.
WCSO received reports of 36 trees down and 13 power lines down. Two trees damaged mobile homes. An individual was freed from his home by Public Safety and another individual was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Trees were reported down on Northwood Lane; Palomino Road; Council Moore Road; Lee Miller Road; Sweet Gum Trail; Old Bethel Road; Iroquois Road; Maxson Road; Beechwood Drive; Graham Trail; Cooperwood Road; Wakulla Springs Road; Croatan Street; Klickitat Drive; Sudai Street; Lura Lane; Broken Bow Trail; Spring Creek Highway, Paulette Drive; Haida Trail; Hidden Valley Lane; Black Foot Road; Yuma Street; and Brown Blvd.

Thirteen power lines were reported down including: Myers Woods Drive and Marsue Drive; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Road; Dolly Drive; Wakulla Springs Road; Dosh-Levy Road; Old Magnolia Road; Tiger Hammock Road; Donaldson-Williams Road; Tafflinger Road and Rehwinkel Road; Centerline Road; Cajer Posey Road; and Apachee Road.

The power companies were busy attempting to restore service during the storm although a large number of citizens were without power for several hours.
