WCSO speed trailer is shot, reward is offered

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot a WCSO speed trailer on Sunday, Dec. 1 while it was posted on Rehwinkel Road in Crawfordville, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.

The sheriff’s office is offering a reward of $500 for information that leads law enforcement to arrest and convict the person who shot the electronic device.

A concerned citizen contacted the WCSO and reported that the speed trailer had been shot. The trailer is a Stalker Speed Awareness Monitor (SAM). The digital display was shot three times disabling the first digit and the red and blue signal lights.

Evidence at the scene revealed that the SAM was shot with a shotgun. Damage to the trailer is estimated at $1,200.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (850) 745-7100.
