Two Perry men face marijuana charges following traffic stop

On Dec. 6, Deputy Alan Middlebrooks and Deputy Matthew Hedges were conducting stationary radar east of Newport on U.S. Highway 98 when they observed a motorist driving 68 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.

Andre Ricardo Greene

A traffic stop was conducted and when the driver, Andre Ricardo Greene, 45, of Perry, rolled down the window smoke poured out from the interior of the vehicle.  A strong odor of marijuana was detected. The deputies discovered plastic grocery bags containing 23 individually packaged bags of marijuana.

Greene was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell. A passenger in the vehicle, Adrian Renard Nelson, 21, of Perry, was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. Greene’s marijuana weighed 203.1 grams while Nelson’s marijuana weighed .1 of a gram.

Burned marijuana cigarettes were also found inside the vehicle. Both men were transported to the Wakulla County Jail and their vehicle was towed from the scene.
