|Felony narcotics arrest made following traffic stop|
On Nov. 23, Deputy Mike Zimba conducted a traffic stop at Highway 267 and Old Bethel Road after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Deputy Zimba smelled the odor of marijuana and conducted a search of the vehicle. Five baseball sized baggies of marijuana were discovered in the vehicle. One of the baggies contained 37 smaller individually packaged bags of marijuana and a digital scale and empty baggies were found as well. The suspect, Christopher Jerrod Deshazier, 22, of Havana, also possessed $160 in cash. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded and the total weight of the marijuana was 152.1 grams. Deshazier was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of narcotics equipment. He was also given a traffic citation for failing to stop at the stop sign. Sgt. Lorne Whaley, Deputy Ross Hasty and Sgt. Ryan Muse also investigated.
