Crawfordville Elementary School hosts SAVE graduation

Crawfordville Elementary School fifth graders celebrated the successful conclusion of their Substance Abuse and Violence Education (SAVE) program Friday, Nov. 8.

The eight week program was instructed by Deputy Evelyn Brown. Retired Miami Police Officer Marva Preston was the guest speaker. Preston is a former Wakulla High School student.

The SAVE essay winners included Keira Cushard, Hayden Good, Michael Wallace and Melody White. Cushard was the overall essay winner and she read her essay to the gathering.

All of the speakers had a message to share with the fifth grade as they get ready to become middle school students next fall. The program discusses a wide range of topics from substance abuse, to bullying, to staying away from illegal drugs and alcohol.
