Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Detective Derek Lawhon was selected as the winner of the Distinguished Service Award for Law Enforcement as selected by the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency in Dade City.
“The Distinguished Service Award for Law Enforcement is a note taken by the members of the FCCD of your earnest efforts for the betterment of society,” said Chapter President Lynn Garst. “Let me congratulate you personally as well as on behalf of all committee members for your relentless and selfless service to your fellow citizens of Florida.”
Detective Lawhon has been assigned cases involving property crimes and was nominated for the award by a victim in one of his cases due to his diligence and determination in solving crimes.
Detective Lawhon will be honored at an awards banquet in Tallahassee in July. “Congratulations in receiving this most prestigious and deserving award,” Garst concluded.
