Uniform Patrol is the most visible unit of the Sheriff's Office. A Command Level Captain is assigned over Road Patrol and Lieutenants are assigned to shifts and available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Each shift works around the clock answering calls for service, business and home security checks and patrol to Keep Wakulla Safe.
Special Operations in the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office continues to expand to meet increased demands for law enforcement response to critical incidents and threat management. This section provides highly trained law enforcement officers to protect and serve the citizens of Wakulla County. Curently the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office has the following Special Operations Teams: Jail Extraction; Hostage/Crisis Intervention Unit; Marine Enforcement; Traffic Unit for Community Policing.
Juvenile Relations within the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office work closely with the Wakulla County School Board to provide School Resource Officers. These committed deputies go to work every day in our schools to ensure the safety of the students and staff. They teach programs starting at the elementary schools, as well as spend time befriending students providing positive role models.
Training is recognized by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office as a critical element in keeping all Sheriff's Office employees current in job related information in their respective areas. The Training Unit also coordinates the Field Training Officer program. They maintain training records on all employees, conduct remedial training as needed.
