Captain Tommy Martin insures that secuirty is maintained in the detention center, work crews and also oversees court security
The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office continues to lease unused jail space to other agencies, thus offsetting our operational costs and allowing us to be very successful in reducing the cost of a detention facility to local citizens.
The jail and housing administration section, under the supervision of Captain Steve Willis meets the daily needs of inmates by providing services such as laundry, mail and educational opportunities, as well as determining the classification and housing assignments for all inmates.
Inmates that meet certain criteria may apply for and be granted work release to help support their family while incarcerated.
Inmate work crews, under the strict supervision of correctional officers, maintain the grounds of various public buildings, roadways and parks and perform maintenance work in the Sheriff's facilities. The also assist "Keep Wakulla Beautiful" with roadside trash pick-up. The litter control unit picked up over 200,000 pounds of litter this year. Our goal is to keep inmates productive while decreasing the tax burden to the community.
Visitations are conducted on the following schedule:
Female Inmates: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM Daily
Male Inmates: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Daily
