School Safety - Traffic Enforcement
Back to School Safety .......

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone as summer vacation comes to an end and school starts this Monday, there will be increased traffic on our highways, including many young drivers.

In an effort to get our students and faculty back to school safely, additional deputies will be on-duty strictly enforcing traffic laws, especially speeders in school zones.  Sheriff Harvey wants everyone to know, "this is a priority of law enforcement, to make sure kids get to and from school safely."

Remember to follow school buses at a safe distance, a good rule is one car link for every 10 miles per hour you are traveling.  Do not pass a bus that has its yellow or red lights flashing or its stop signs out.  Also, please check our website at www.wcso.org to read about Bus Stop Safety.

Our traffic officers would also like to remind you that Highway 319 is not considered a divided highway and all traffic must stop when a school bus is loading children.  The center lane is a turn lane only.
