 VOLUNTARY EVACUATION OF WAKULLA COUNTY

***************************************************************************************

The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office Division of Emergency Management in coordination with County Administration is recommending a voluntary evacuation of low lying coastal areas and areas along the St. Marks and Ochlocknee Rivers. The National weather service is projecting up to four feet of surge tide Friday night through Saturday morning. This level of surge is anticipated to cause road flooding in the immediate coastal areas of St. Marks and Mashes Sands and up to 1-mile up the St. Marks, Wakulla and Ochlocknee rivers. We are encouraging residents along the coast to evacuate in order to assure their safety. All persons with interests along the coast and rivers should take necessary precautions to protect life and property. We would like to remind you to avoid driving through flood waters. A shelter will be available at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3251 Crawfordville Highway, after 4 PM today. If you have any questions or need assistance with evacuations, please contact the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office at 850.926.0800.

For more information and updates, please refer to our website at wcso.org.
