Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Communications Officers provide call answering services for both routine and emergency telephone calls that come into the sheriff’s office dispatch area. Dispatchers direct the calls to the appropriate WCSO office as well as to law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical service personnel in the field.
Communications officers work 24 hours a day, every day of the year making sure calls are properly directed. In addition to being the individual standing in the gap between the person in need and the assisting officer or person, they coordinate assistance between law enforcement and other agencies when needed.
The Communications Division is supervised by Emergency Management Director Scott Nelson and Deputy Director Randall Taylor. Emergency Management is also responsible for the management of all WCSO radios.
The E-911 Office is responsible for street addressing, road naming and maintenance of the E-911 system equipment as well as maintaining a 911 data base of all emergency calls. The E-911 Coordinator is Rachel Love.
