OCTOBER 4th 2017 3:45 PM – At this time the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Division is monitoring Tropical Depression 16 located in the Western Caribbean.
This storm is in its infancy at this time and forecasts are unreliable at best. Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to fly the storm this afternoon. Once the information is input to the various weather model programs we should get a more reliable forecast track.
Please keep in mind that the forecast tracks change as weather …conditions change in the surrounding environment. As of the latest information received in Emergency Management the depression will develop into a Tropical Storm and may reach Category 1 strength prior to making landfall somewhere between Louisiana and Tampa Florida.
Attention should not be paid to the center of the Warning Cone. At this time attention should be paid to the entire width. Wakulla EM will continue to monitor all information and forecast involved with this situation throughout its entirety.
